Couples counselling offers a space for partners to learn or reinforce skills around communication, conflict engagement, navigating gridlocked issues, or fostering a greater sense of understanding each other. Sessions can also be a great space to dedicate a time for the relationship, and reaffirm relationship strengths, goals, and values. Our therapists offer a complimentary 10-minute phone consultation to discuss some of the areas of focus and to see if there are any questions you may have, so please feel free to set up a consultation at your convenience!
Registered Psychologist
Registered Psychologist
Hello there, my name is Jeremy Luk (he/him) and I have been a Registered Psychologist with the College of Alberta Psychologists since 2016.
Being born and raised in the city of Calgary has fostered a strong sense of community in me and I am always excited to see how our city has grown throughout the years. My experiences in counselling and therapy have spanned from working in specialized populations such as autistic children, to more broad and general groups through an internship and residency in non-profit counselling centres. I've also spent four years working in both a private practice and with an employee assistance program of a school board. I have worked with individuals, couples, as well as families to develop strategies in the areas of depression, anxiety, communication difficulties, infidelity, grief, stress management, parenting difficulties, co-parenting after separation, blended family issues, sexual identity, trauma, phobias, emotional regulation, workplace stress, addictions, motivation, self-esteem, goal-setting, and conflict management among others. I also have a special interest in working with the LGBTQ2S+, BIPOC, and neurodivergent communities.
My approach to counselling is getting to know you first! I think a collaborative approach makes the most sense where we work together based on your learning style and by remembering that you are the expert of all things in your life and I am just a passenger that helps explore where you would like to go next. My treatment direction would be more short-term in orientation as it involves a solution-focused approach, drawing from several different schools of therapy, including Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy, Dialectical-Behavioural Therapy, or Narrative Therapy. Other orientations may also be explored as well depending on the best fit of practice, such as using my Gottman's training to address couples' counselling or play therapy when working with children. I have a passion for working with others in experiencing changes for patterns that haven't been working for them, and haven't met a client I haven't learned from yet! I am also proficient conversationally in Cantonese and can try my best to offer services in that language if you don't mind the occassional funny pronounciation or two.
If you are interested in working together, feel free to reach out for a complimentary phone consult where I can answer some of your questions to see if we may be a good fit, take care!
Hello! My name is John Pynn (he, him) and I am a Registered Psychologist with the College of Alberta Psychologists, and my education background includes a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology degree.
I have lived in the Calgary and surrounding area for more than 10 years after moving from B.C. where I grew up. I bring with me a relaxed, collaborative, and authentic atmosphere into counselling. My experiences in the counselling and mental health field include working for many years in public schools and non-profit agencies specializing in mental health support for children, teens, and their families. My counselling experiences also include working in private practice and an internship at a non-profit counselling agency with all ages. I enjoy working with individuals, couples, and families that are interested in receiving support and guidance for mental health challenges including stress, anxiety, anger, depression, self-esteem, relationship struggles, parenting challenges, addictions, grief and loss, ADHD, or trauma.
I use an integrated approach with counselling and therapy to provide a best-fit for each client. Some of the approaches I use include Person-Centered Therapy, Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy, Solution-Focussed Therapy, Dialectical-Behavioural Therapy, or Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. Providing a comfortable space to explore where you are at without judgement, what you are seeking to change, and guidance with how to get there is a true honour for me to help with.
If you have any questions or want to see if we would be a good fit, feel free to book a free 15-minute phone consult. I look forward to talking with you!
